Before the church history trip, I was in a part of my life where I wasn’t focused on the gospel as I had been before. My heart was focused mainly on my career and for a long time I had felt my prayers and attempts to get closer to Heavenly Father weren’t being answered. It was a spiritually quiet time of my life.

But visiting those sites changed my life in unexpected ways. Visiting the sites where the restoration of the gospel occurred, renovated my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and His restored church. I also received special revelation and guidance for my life there, that shaped my actions after I came back from this trip. I came back with a willingness to do the Lord’s will for my life.

I started praying and reading the scriptures more often, I felt guided to express my faith in artwork form that later led to my photo being in an exhibition at the Springville Art Museum. I had the chance to bear my testimony about Jesus Christ several times to many people as I showed my work for critiques, portfolio review and exhibitions. I felt strongly committed to put the Lord first in my life. As a result, I have received continuous revelation for my life, strength to overcome trials and I’ve started reconnecting with my family in Brazil.

There I also felt prompted to try for kids. Because of childhood trauma and diagnosed infertility on my end, having children was something out of my radar until this trip. I felt, while there, that every person who is born on earth has a timeline. That the time they are born is important because of the events they’ll live and the people they are going to meet. Because of this prompting I started therapy, where I got the chance to start healing childhood trauma. That led me to go visit my family in Brazil even though we had stranded relationships and I didn’t know what to expect. While I was there, my heart was healed even more as I got the chance to connect with my parents. I saw them changed, more kind, more patient, more wise. I saw them making efforts to connect with me in ways I had never seen before. And that healed my heart. They even went to church with me after so many years. We all sat on the same bench. My mom even asked me questions about the gospel and even after I returned to the U.S. she’s attending church often.

More importantly, because of this prompting and the following guidance I received I have been able to actually create a desire and confidence of having children and becoming a mom, something I struggled with for a long time. Even though that has not happened yet – I feel the Lord shaping me to become the woman He sees in me. The woman He needs me to become. This trip helped me to re-center my life in Christ and see God’s hand in my life.
